Ivana Bozic was the first deceased SWUA member. Within weeks of her name being published, her great-granddaughter, Barbara Friesenhahn, made contact with the museum.  The result, Ivana's story marked the beginning of The Path Taken "Dolpoljena Pot" in our bi-monthly magazine, The Zarja. Ivana was a typical Slovenian immigrant woman of that time period.  She leaned the English language, became a member of the newly formed Slovenian Ladies Union, showed leadership qualities in Branch 5 of Indianapolis, IN, and became a role model for her family. Therefore, we realized how important it was for families to have this information about their relatives.  We encourage everyone to submit a request for documents and share your story of the early Slovenian pioneers.
